Sam is interested in the evolution of complex phenotypes, particularly when it comes to ants. He began his career computationally modeling circadian rhythms in Jonathan Arnold’s lab at the University of Georgia. He then conducted his PhD with Brendan Hunt, also at the University of Georgia, studying the role of epigenetics and supergenes in the evolution of complex social behaviors. Sam joined up with the Trible lab in August 2020 and is excited to start generating genomes, mutants and analyzing museum specimens within the Leptothorax genus group.
